Vitamin B-12 has been a popular topic recently. Not simply B-12, but the difference between vitamin B-12 and the “cocktail” of different vitamins, minerals, and amino acids known collectively as “lipotropic injections.”
To compare plain vitamin B-12 to “lipotropic injections” would be like comparing a piece of turkey to a Thanksgiving feast! The truth is – it doesn't compare!
Vitamin B-12 is also known as the “energy vitamin” and for good reason. This essential vitamin plays a crucial role in fat metabolism, as well as forms the backbone of the lipotropic cocktail.
As we grow older, our bodies lose their ability to fully absorb certain nutrients such as the B vitamins. Particularly, vitamins B-12, B-1, B2, B3, and B6. This is an issue because we need these vitamins to function fully and efficiently.
Many adults take supplements to make up for this deficiency, but they too involve absorbency issues and are simply passed through the body. So taking oral supplements, or even doing B-12 shots, does not compensate for the number of valuable B vitamins that we fail to absorb. If you are deficient in B-12, you're most likely deficient in other crucial vitamins that need to be addressed.
Lipotropic cocktails typically contain all of the B vitamins mentioned above, which is far more helpful in fat metabolism than simply taking B-12. Lipotropic cocktails also typically contain other amino acids and essential nutrients that vitamin B-12 doesn't.
Amino acids such as methionine which plays a critical role in metabolism, or choline which helps to break down and transport fat, or inositol which improves lipid metabolism through lowering visceral fat weight, hepatic lipid accumulation and insulin secretion.
Lipotropic vitamins, due to the inclusion of these other non-B-12 ingredients, are therefore often referred to as “MIC Vitamins” or “MIC cocktails”. Together, this cocktail has been known to increase energy, decrease fat, and improve cognition and memory.
Most people feel the benefits very quickly, if not immediately, due to energy stimulation. Most are advised to take it before noon so that it doesn't disturb sleep! There's no risk either! Because they are vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids, your body will eliminate any extra that it doesn't need.
Some take the injections weekly, while others take it several times per week. Some even take it daily for optimal results!
Vitamin B-12 is usually injected deep into the muscle which hurts! But lipotropic vitamins have a numbing medication mixed into them and can be injected with tiny needles, barely the size of an eyelash! Making it painless!
While insurance may pay for plain vitamin B-12, you'd be missing so much of what's necessary to fully metabolize fats and carbohydrates. Lipotropic cocktails are very affordable, however. You can get them for less than $5 per injection-less than a latte!
