How does Dysport work?
Your provider will cleanse the injection areas at your appointment and possibly apply ice or a topical numbing cream depending on your preference. A very thin needle will then be used multiple times in the treatment area. Usually, the entire process only takes about 10-20 minutes. However, the first time, we may ask that you wait in the office for an additional 15 minutes or so to monitor for any possible allergic reactions.

Since Dysport is injected, you will feel a slight pinch when the needle is inserted, but a topical anesthetic cream can be used to provide extra comfort if needed. A large majority of patients experience very little tenderness or discomfort at the injection site after the procedure.
Dysport's most common side effects are swelling or redness at the injection site. A more serious but extremely rare risk is an allergic reaction which can include rash, redness, and dizziness.
Dysport results are not permanent and typically last about 3-4 months. Therefore, we typically recommend maintenance treatments every 3-4 months. Many patients report that the more they can keep up with regular maintenance, the longer they can go between treatments and still see results.
