During a consultation, we will take a full medical and aesthetic treatment history. We will also discuss your ultimate cosmetic goals and make a plan for your treatment sessions and frequency. If you are prone to cold sores, we may ask you to take a preventative medication prior to your treatment. Your skin will need to be free of any makeup, moisturizer, and sunscreen before your appointment.
At your appointment, your skin will be prepped with a cleanser, and a topical anesthetic will be applied to ensure optimal comfort. Your provider will make 2-3 passes over your skin with the Genius RF handpiece. Typically the procedure takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area. At the end of the session, a soothing cream will be applied.
There may be some light redness, swelling, and slight crusting, but this should resolve completely within about 2-3 days. It is very important not to pick at any crusting that occurs as this can complicate healing and even cause scarring. You will need to use an approved cleanser and moisturizer for at least a week after treatment. Results will begin to show a few days after your Microneedling treatment. However, as collagen keeps building, you will continue to see improvements for weeks or months.
